Plantar Warts

Plantar Warts

A plantar wart is a skin growth that develops through a viral infection in the skin. Warts typically develop on the bottom of the foot. Plantar warts most commonly occur in children, adolescents, and the elderly. They are two different types of warts; one is a solitary wart and the other is a mosaic wart. Warts can resemble calluses due to thickened skin, they may be painful, and tiny black dots can appear on the surface of the wart. Different warts respond to different treatments and some may go away on their own. Treatments include the use topical or oral agents, cryotherapy, acid treatments, or surgery to remove the wart.
